black acacia desk process

These are process shots from the early stages of construction on a wood slab desk. Not including some thin panels for the drawer bottom, all wood used was cut from a solid slab of black acacia purchased from the folks at Global Wood Source

A small number of pieces had to be painstakingly cut, sanded & glued during these shots, primarily construction of the drawer elements. Along the way many marks are made and sanded away, I’m glad I saved a few images. The warm richness of the grain really jumps out in these sun bleached shots. It’s my favorite part of the process, lots of sanding & cutting, the smell of sawdust in the air.
